Miami Encode Interview TON 618, we find out more about him, his new release and what is important to him.
How would you present/describe your work to someone who doesn’t know you?
TON 618 is a project born in 2019, which the main goal is to rise awareness between science and electronic music, two different elements that are linked much more than people can expect.
TON 618 is born with no identity, where many different people collaborate on it to share different passions with the same topic:
Space.
And your last record? How was it born? And where do you want it to lead?
Last record released it’s been “Crab EP”, the debut release. It has been released in 2021.
It contain 3 different tracks with sound from a neutron star (Crab track itself)radio signal, SN 1987A, sonification of a famous supernova, and one of farthest quasar ever discovered, 3C 279.
To lead to the masses that still have no clues about the sound from Space.
What message would you like to convey to the public?
TON 618 message is that music is not something you can do only by yourself. That Space can help you to create it as well.
That Space is full of noise.
How do you make music? What is most important for you?
TON 618 music start from a signal from Space.
A magnetic field, a gravitational wave, a sonification.
Everything that can be transduced in audio signal.
All the rest is in the hands of Ableton & Logic X, plus various external VST.
Is there a unifying concept behind your art?
Art is, in a way the expression of someone, or eventually something that is behind.
In this case, is the expression of a project born to aware people to science, astrophysic and astronomy.
TON 618 can be resumed into this concept:
“Using signals from Space to create music. Using science to create art.”
What makes you unique?
Everyone’s unique, TON 618 is unique as is the first ever project created in this way.
As for your studio, what is it currently composed of?
This debut album has been created with Ableton live 10 and Logic X + sounds from Space.
What is the one instrument you would never get rid of, no matter what?
With no sound from Space TON 618 would never exist.
Do you have hope for the future of music? How would you like the future of the music industry to be?
No clues about it, human beings are often strange, sometimes even evil.
Can you reveal some future projects to us?
Not yet.
What makes you happy?
Science, which is always changing, because of the new discoveries.
What bothers you?
Ignorance for the knowledge, as well as people who are not open to the future.
