K.Martin has long developed a name with music that spans multiple genres. Diversity in music is at the core of it. K.Martin’s sound has a common characteristic recognized by recurring themes; nostalgia, melody and cosmic depth, which drags you, but without losing energy. It should be noted that in his role as a DJ, K. Martin is in one of his best moments, playing full houses in all of his latest performances.
We have had the pleasure of interviewing him and this has been the result. Enjoy it!
Hello! Where can we find you right now? How did you start your day?
I found myself in Seville, but in the middle of the afternoon I will find myself in the Sierra de Huelva. I started my day early with a good coffee.
When did the idea of launching a project like yours begin to form? Has it always been something you wanted to do?
Since I started dedicating myself to electronic music, I wanted to have my own professional project and after the pandemic, I decided to take it seriously. Proof of this has been the growth it has experienced since then.
How would you define the sound of your latest work?
My latest work comes from a family inspiration, my nieces and the motivation to convey to them what it feels like to be in the best club, at the peak of the night, without them ever having been there. That feeling that I want to convey to them can be extrapolated to the rest of the people that I want to hear it. This EP is loaded with forceful and more complex rhythms than usual.
What artists are you interested in these days?
I like to review the classics, I think that the Techno that is heard today has similarities to what was released in 2000. I am attracted to artists like: Ben Klock, Surgeon, Paula Cazenave, Ben Sims, Truncate, RNGD, Dj Lukas, Fernanda Martins, Alarico, David Mallada… among others.
How would you define your sound?
I was always characterized by a forceful sound. My music has evolved to more complex and mature rhythms but without losing the essence of the dance floor. I love mixing complex synths with “more upbeat” rhythms.
Can you tell us something about your current or future projects? NOLA EP will be released next April 19, on Adrian Oblanca’s renowned and legendary label, Over Records, for me it is a pleasure to be able to release on this label, since I share his philosophy and musical vision; a fact that for me is fundamental when doing work in production. LACAR, the first of the tracks, offers a broad electronic vision, loaded with synthesizers and with a more “groove” rhythm; However, the second track, SENOLO, is charged with darkness and is full of more complex synthesizers.
