“A hymn to creation”, ‘Before Life’ is the latest single from Indian Wells, the project of southern Italian producer Pietro Iannuzzi, taken from his forthcoming album ‘No One Really Listens To Oscillators’. Today, filmmaker Gianvito Cofano has created an accompanying video visualizing the “juxtaposition of opposing ways of looking at life.”
‘No One Really Listens To Oscillators’ will be released on July 15, 2022 on LP and digital formats. The album’s conceptual input comes from an article in The New York Times discussing a new conceptual architectural style. The term “Incompiuto” (Unfinished) was theorized by Alterazioni Video & Fosbury Architecture and refers to unfinished works that reveal the inability of the projects to make the infrastructure useful and sustainable for the community.
‘No One Really Listens To Oscillators’ is a serious work, taken care of to the millimeter, that lends itself to starting it and not coming back to reality until it’s finished: the headphones are like the oxygen cylinder that allows you to dive to the bottom of this great sonic rotation, of this cosmic orbit, and being there in a state of hypnotic fascination.
In this world where speed is desperately sought and attention deficit is so high, such an album will be misunderstood among many people, even dismissed as really important. But you just have to be patient and want to stop, to breathe, to sink into it, to hold on there as long as you can, and admire its interior.
This work demonstrates Indian’s particular way of understanding sound, located at the antipodes of the commercial, of the generic, of what works: what he does is, on the contrary, a kind of unstable magma of pulsations and radiances, of melodic sketches and blurred textures, pursuing a calm, spiritual, almost ascetic expression. All these languages and influences dialogue on this album, creating new, different and highly evolved sound organisms.
‘No One Really Listens To Oscillators’ leaves nothing to the way and confirms the mission that electronic music has always had: play with the present and advance into the unknown, beyond entertainment.
