Announces headline London Live show at Oslo, Hackney on November 11th
Lawrence Hart, UK-based DJ/producer/multi-instrumentalist, unleashes dance-driving single ‘Living Without U’, out now, heralding his club-ready 12-track mixtape ‘Asking For A Friend’ on Domino’s Double Six imprint. Hart uses his hard-science-savvy tech skills for a full throttle, hard and fast ride fortified with elements of UK Bass and post-dubstep, newly eschewing his usual more ambient moments. The digital-only full mixtape drops November 14th just after Hart’s November 11th headline live show at Hackney’s Oslo.
After Hart’s recent longed-for debut LP ‘Come In Out of the Rain’ wonsupport inc. Danny Howard, Jack Saunders, Pete Tong, Lauren Laverne, Mixmag, MusicRadar, Sian Eleri, Jess Iszatt, Jaguar, Rinse, DMY, plus heavy playlist uptake eg. a Spotify Altar cover & Amazon Signals slots, “I realised how dense the album was, which I love, but a mixtape has allowed me to leave the shackles of ‘what I imagine an album to be,’’ says Hart.
“I wanted to make something for the club, faster, more stripped back, exploring sounds and ideas that satisfy the more techy side of my writing. It still encompasses that vulnerable/emotional side but in a much tougher vehicle. I’ve enjoyed writing at faster tempo and focusing more on sonics. It was also lovely to put some collabs on there[NTS & Rinse resident Giulia Tess, rising producer Meg Ward, fellow multi-instrumentalist Mera Bhai] which ended up fitting in perfectly on ‘Asking For A Friend.”
Lead single ‘Living Without U’ has an upbeat feel despite the poignant title and lyrics, with a pitch-shifted, pulsating vocal and a diamond-sharp throbbing melodic synth. Catchy and dance-driving, new Lawrence Hart goodness.
There will be another cheeky foretaste in single form before the full mixtape of ‘Asking For A Friend’ drops… His last London live show at Corsica Studios sold out so grab your tickets for Oslo quick.
