34 years of music, experiences, and musical culture. Countless generations have danced at Industrial Copera, helping to put Granada on the map as a true clubbing pilgrimage destination. For its 34th Anniversary, the iconic venue pays tribute to the origin of it all: Detroit. On Saturday, May 16 from 18:00, get ready for an event of epic proportions with a lineup that will make you dream wide awake.
A tribute to Detroit wouldn’t be complete without a figure like Kevin Saunderson, whose influence runs deep both in his adopted hometown and in music culture as a whole. As one of the Belleville Three — the high school trio that also includes Juan Atkins and Derrick May — he irreversibly changed the face of electronic music. The origins of today’s massive techno scene can be traced directly back to Kevin, Derrick, and Juan, whose early experiments with rudimentary hardware laid the foundation for a genre that didn’t yet exist. Drawing from influences such as Kraftwerk, cutting-edge funk, the eclectic programming of local radio legend The Electrifying Mojo, and all kinds of synthesizer- and drum machine-driven pop music, the Belleville Three broke new ground as musicians and DJs in the 1980s. His nickname, “The Elevator,” is highly fitting: for his role in bringing Detroit’s new sound to a wider audience, and for his energetic, intense, and spirited DJ sets.
Inner City will deliver a historic live performance. This pioneering Detroit techno formation was created in 1987 by Kevin Saunderson, one of the genre’s founding figures, alongside vocalist Paris Grey. Their fusion of electronic music and soul defined an era with anthems like “Big Fun” and “Good Life.” In its current form, led by Saunderson alongside his son Dantiez and vocalist Steffanie Christi’an, the group continues to keep the Motown spirit alive with a powerful live show that will find the perfect setting at Industrial Copera to showcase the full strength and legacy of their sound.
DJ Bone b2b FJAAK: from Detroit to Berlin, two generations of artists meet in the booth. DJ Bone, a symbol of Detroit’s underground sound, has built a career spanning more than three decades based on honesty and respect for the art of DJing, staying true to his roots. FJAAK, one of the strongest acts in contemporary techno, blends rave influences from their early days with the legacy of classic techno and a modern club perspective.
During Industrial Copera’s 34th Anniversary, El Jardín will host a takeover by Selectors, the brand led by Anika Kunst, where musical selection is key, with a refined, deep, and uncompromising approach. When describing Anika Kunst, those who know her immediately think of her charismatic charm, her ability to blend musical styles, her elegance with vinyl, and above all, her perceptiveness and intuition that allow her to read the dancefloor’s mood, making her a truly killer DJ.
Techno is the foundation of her sound and the central axis of her sets, although her ability to integrate different genres during her performances is one of her defining traits. Influenced by both German and American sounds, her sets are a mix of rhythms perfect for any setting, whether an intimate club or a 6am rave.
