The legendary Detroit artist will headline the line-up alongside Norbak, DJ Pete, Obskür B2B Omar+, Sosa, Kepler B2B Borinski and CAAL B2B De La Swing
Pyramid once again proves this Sunday why it remains one of the leading references for club culture in Ibiza. On September 27th, the Amnesia Ibiza residency will once again bring together different generations, styles and approaches to electronic music in a single night, with one of the most important figures in the history of techno taking centre stage: Jeff Mills.
Born in Detroit and known during his early years as The Wizard, Jeff Mills began his career as a radio DJ in Detroit during the 1980s, developing a revolutionary technique that combined extraordinary turntable skills with a musical selection connecting techno, house and other electronic sounds. At the end of that decade, Mills co-founded Underground Resistance alongside Mad Mike Banks, one of the key collectives for understanding the evolution of Detroit techno. He later embarked on a solo career and founded Axis Records in 1992, becoming one of the most influential figures in the development of a minimalist, futuristic and deeply personal form of techno.
His importance extends far beyond the DJ booth. Throughout his career, Mills has explored different disciplines and taken his musical language into cinematic, experimental and orchestral territory, while always maintaining an unmistakable artistic identity. His relationship with the Roland TR-909, his extraordinary turntable technique and his ability to build sets in real time are all part of an approach to DJing that has influenced several generations of artists.
Joining Jeff Mills will be Norbak, the Portuguese artist known for his dark, hypnotic and powerful take on techno, with productions and DJ sets characterised by a strong personality and a clear underground orientation. Completing the Main Room line-up will be DJ Pete, a veteran figure on the international techno scene whose career is closely linked to some of the most important chapters in rave culture and European techno.
The Terrace will offer a different perspective, while remaining perfectly connected to the spirit of Pyramid. Obskür B2B Omar+ will join forces for a back-to-back set promising plenty of energy, groove and house and tech-house sounds. The B2B format will allow both artists to create a dynamic musical dialogue, constantly adapting to the response of the dancefloor. Sosa will bring his distinctive take on house and tech house, driven by powerful grooves, basslines and a clear club-focused sensibility.
Also taking over the Terrace will be Kepler B2B Borinski, another of the night’s back-to-back combinations. Their set will explore different shades of club-focused electronic music, progressively evolving while maintaining a constant connection with the dancefloor. The Terrace line-up will be completed by CAAL B2B De La Swing, two artists bringing their different perspectives together for a session of house and underground sounds designed to keep the energy high throughout the night.
