“Care 4 U” finds South Coast native and Bristol-based DJ/producer Adam Killey channelling a lifetime of music obsession into a modernized Disco, even Pop-leaning House cut that’s impossible to forget. Raised on 1960s records and the folk, Afro and Latin rhythms he absorbed on family trips to music and arts festivals, Adam cut his teeth in teenage bands and on his dad’s four track tape recorder, before the 90s and 00s electronic boom pulled him toward big beat, Balearic grooves and the House scene. All influences play a part in this tight collection of tracks.
This permanent love for House music was cemented by a pilgrimage to Brighton for Fatboy Slim’s Big Beach Boutique II, and over the years he’s honed a percussive four-on-the-floor sound flecked with Cosmic Disco colour, mirrored in his vinyl-only sets for Bristol’s Soulcial crew where he blends Disco edits, global cuts, 80s Boogie, House and New Wave. “Care 4 U” bottles that warm, party-ready energy into a vocal earworm with a solid backbone, offered here as an Extended Mix for the dancers, a tight Edit for radio and playlists, a tougher NYC Version nodding to classic East Coast club sonics with a classic 8th note bass, and a Future Self remix that nudges the original into deeper late-night territory while keeping its heart firmly on its sleeve.
