This young Argentine artist is leading a new generation that is pushing this electronic genre to a higher level.
Electronic styles are constantly evolving, going through highs and lows throughout history, connecting with different generations represented by artists who manage to elevate, refine, and establish them. In the case of Progressive, Roman is playing the avant-garde role that is bringing this genre back to a place it should never have left.
“For me, electronic music is one of the most important parts of my life. Since I started on this path, I became obsessed with the idea of creating sounds outside the ordinary and closer to more organic music, managing to transmit unique feelings and moments. I don’t come from this new era where being a DJ is just a trend; I used to spend hours in my room listening to sets from the best DJs and learning from them,” says Roman.
Valentín Romano, artistically known as Roman, is a DJ and producer born in Mendoza, Argentina, currently based in Málaga, Spain. At 25 years old, he is positioning himself as one of the most promising emerging talents on the international electronic music scene.
Influenced from an early age by Funky and Disco sounds, he became interested in music production at the age of 12, beginning a self-taught journey that he later consolidated professionally after studying in Málaga at the Musiluz school, where he refined his skills in production, mixing, and mastering.
The year 2024 marked his debut on the scene, with performances at renowned venues and events such as Ministry of Sound (London), Eden (Ibiza), and Brunch Electronik (Málaga), as well as clubs like Industrial Copera (Granada). Along the way, he shared lineups and booths with top-tier artists such as Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Dixon, Patrice Bäumel, Economist, Alan Fitzpatrick, among others.
“Right now, I feel that genre trends are very powerful in the sense that they create an instant impact. We want everything to happen quickly, and tracks that are number one on every chart today will soon be forgotten. That’s why in Progressive I found a way for music to be told differently — not everything happens instantly, but instead it allows you to enter a broader soundscape with a story to tell,” Roman explains.
In 2025, he continues his international growth with the release of his remix of “Muse,” an original track by Rezident released on Anjunadeep as part of The Remixes 2025. That same year, he adds performances in Argentina at key venues such as La Biblioteca (Buenos Aires) and Las Palapas (Mendoza), expanding his presence within the Latin American scene.
With a sonic identity in constant evolution and strong international projection, Roman continues developing new productions and performances, establishing himself as one of the rising promises of global electronic music. You’ll have a unique opportunity to experience his sound live on May 16th at Sala Siroco in Madrid.
“I really enjoy playing with a mix of genres under the concept of progressive, where my music can be told in a certain way that can be understood and enjoyed through different styles of grooves, melodies, and many more processes that I create while producing each song. That’s why I feel that in the future, when trends are no longer just a TikTok or Instagram video, this sound will earn the respect and understanding it truly deserves,” Roman concludes.
