Hurr’s second collaboration with STBAN marks his debut release on FLAMENCA Records.
Renowned British producer James Hurr makes his debut on FLAMENCA Records with his new single ‘Gitanita’, his second collaboration with label founder STBAN, following the release of ‘El Camino’ on Toolroom Records late last year.
‘Gitanita’ —which means “gypsy” in English— also sees the duo reunite with acclaimed flamenco singer Sandra Carrasco and influential, pioneering guitarist Josemi Carmona. Carmona’s gently undulating guitar rhythms weave delicately with Iberian-style percussion, while Carrasco’s evocative vocals add an extra layer of tension to the duo’s refined composition. The result is a tight yet delicate track that harnesses the raw emotional power of traditional flamenco and firmly places it at the pulsing heart of the dancefloor.
“Collaborating with STBAN has been an exciting musical challenge, taking me out of my comfort zone and into the modal world of flamenco music,” said Hurr. “There’s something dark and mysterious in STBAN’s music that works perfectly with driving club beats.”
“I’m delighted to be working again with James,” commented STBAN, “and having him officially release on the FLAMENCA Records label after our collaboration on Toolroom is the icing on the cake. Once again we’ve created a beautiful fusion between the worlds of flamenco and electronic music.”
