This EP also includes remixes by Zakes Bantwini and Darque, along with their extended versions.
The 17-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Sting presents the EP Desert Rose Reimagined, which features three new remixes and extended versions of his iconic crossover anthem “Desert Rose.”
Among the many highlights, the acclaimed US-based duo of Middle Eastern origin, Bedouin —Tamer Malki and Rami Abousabe— deliver a new reinterpretation of “Desert Rose.” Channeling the cinematic spirit of the original, they seamlessly expand the track’s sonic landscape with deep house rhythms, downtempo grooves, and a global outlook. The duo enhances the track’s signature North African nuances with a Middle Eastern touch, bringing fresh energy.
Recently, Bedouin headlined a series of standout performances during Miami Music Week. Next weekend, they will land in Indio, California, for Coachella, where they will perform for the third time at the Yuma Tent and close the first weekend on the main stage of the renowned Zenyara afterparty alongside Adriatique and WhoMadeWho.
Bedouin continue to gain recognition for their award-winning SAGA residency series. This concept, which blends music, culture, and visual storytelling, continues to captivate audiences worldwide. Now in its eighth year, SAGA will arrive at the iconic KOKO venue in London in May. It has previously sold out venues in Tulum, New York, Istanbul, Marrakech, Barcelona, Mykonos, and more.
Completing the Desert Rose Reimagined EP, South African GRAMMY®-winning artist and producer Zakes Bantwini delivers a powerful remix driven by his precise and impactful rhythmic alchemy. Over the years, he has established himself as one of the leading global pioneers of afro house. His multi-platinum hit “Osama” became a global phenomenon, cementing his popularity. He has recently released his new album Echoes of Botanical Gardens.
Meanwhile, Darque brings a distinctly South African flavor to “Desert Rose” in his remix. The producer and DJ has revitalized afro house with a unique vision and style, establishing himself as a key figure in African electronic music through tracks such as “Areyeng,” “Emaweni,” and others.
Even within one of the most prestigious catalogs of all time, “Desert Rose” stands out on its own. Sting, managed by Martin Kierszenbaum/Cherrytree Music Company, created the song alongside Algerian composer Cheb Raba (Rabah Zarradine). It also features the iconic and unmistakable voice of Algerian raï artist Cheb Mami.
The original version of “Desert Rose” appeared on Sting’s albums Brand New Day and My Songs, blending Arabic sounds, Algerian folk, and Western elements, achieving major international success. It reached the Top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 and entered the Top 10 in charts worldwide. It was part of Brand New Day, his sixth solo album, which went triple platinum and won GRAMMY® Awards for “Best Pop Album” and “Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.” It also remains one of his “Top 10 most streamed songs,” with over 184 million streams on Spotify and more than 582 million views on YouTube for its official music video. Upon release, Rolling Stone described Brand New Day as “Sting’s most stylistically consistent album since Nothing Like The Sun (1987).”
