Next Sunday, March 1st, starting at 6:00 PM, Laut will host an exceptional event dedicated to the history of electronic music. The main attraction will be a live performance by George Kranz, author of the timeless anthem “Din Daa Daa,” accompanied by Berlin’s own Bizarre Billy. The lineup is rounded out by PRODUCTO’s synth-punk set, Nico Cabañas’ set as Synths Versus Me, and a vibrant back-to-back set between Charlie Levan and Kubebe. A journey that blends clubbing history, avant-garde sounds, and an intergenerational underground spirit into a single session.
At the heart of the lineup will be George Kranz, a pivotal figure in 80s dance music. A Berlin-born drummer, performer, and sound experimenter, Kranz achieved worldwide fame in 1983 with “Din Daa Daa,” an unclassifiable track that blended percussion, beatboxing, and minimalist electronica, becoming an anthem of breakdancing and voguing and reaching number one on the Billboard club charts. Four decades later, he remains an absolute icon of free-spirited and audacious pop. Joining him will be Bizarre Billy, DJ, producer, and resident DJ of Berlin’s legendary Disco Bizarre session at KitKatClub, specializing in recreating the spirit of disco and Hi-NRG through live remixes. Their combined talents promise a unique journey through the living history of the dance floor: from the raw pulse of the 80s to its most contemporary reinterpretation.
The night will also feature a live performance by PRODUCTO, one of the most exciting projects in Barcelona’s new electronic music scene. Formed by Richi Andino and Bryan Cuadrado, this electronic punk duo, born in 2024, transforms synthesizers, drum machines, and distorted bass into a raw and visceral sound. Their music draws from electro-punk, EBM, and post-punk, and their concerts are pure bursts of energy: dry, aggressive beats, lyrics that oscillate between social commentary and emotional chaos, DIY visuals, and an attitude that blurs the lines between the dance floor and the mosh pit. A sonic artifact designed to unsettle, provoke, and get you dancing all at once.
In the realm of DJ sets, Nico Cabañas – SYNTHS VERSUS ME will bring the most veteran and discerning perspective of the night. A DJ since 1989 and founder of the influential label Oráculo Records, he is a key figure in European alternative electronic music. He has released several works, collaborated with artists such as Boy Harsher and Gary Numan, and shared the stage with essential names like Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb. He is also a co-founder of the prestigious OMBRA Festival, an international benchmark for darkwave and synthwave. His set at Laut will be a precise journey through the most elegant and dark territories of EBM, post-punk, and the most hypnotic club music.
The closing set will be a back-to-back set between Kubebe and Charlie Levan, two selectors who embody the restless spirit of the current scene. Kubebe is a tireless seeker of rare grooves and forgotten sounds, capable of moving between proto-house, new beat, early techno, and disco with a highly personal sensibility. Alongside him, Charlie Levan, a French DJ and producer based in Barcelona, will contribute his characteristic eclecticism: from disco to house, from electro to acid, always with contagious energy and a vast musical knowledge. Together they promise a dynamic and hedonistic set, designed to keep the dance floor buzzing until the very end.
