Brazilian hard techno/psytrance exponent Acid Asian drops his five-track EP ‘Let’s Go’ on RPM by KNTXT, out now, marking his fourth release in three years on Charlotte de Witte’s revered imprint.
Says Charlotte, ‘Acid Asian’s upcoming EP has everything. It’s fast paced, raw, and made for the dancefloor. These tracks have been tearing up clubs and festivals all summer, and I’m so proud to continue supporting his journey on KNTXT, ever since we got connected in 2022. Watching him grow as an artist has been a pleasure, and I can’t wait for you all to experience the energy he brings with these five masterful tracks.’
Support from de Witte also includes his performances at KNTXT showsin Sao Paulo, Amsterdam and Manchester, as well as choosing his track to close her Tomorrowland Brazil set. He’s also played there, and recently played his debut set at Tomorrowland Belgium, plus many shows in Japan, India, Chile, Romania and Germany…
Says Acid Asian, ‘I’m really happy to be back on KNTXT. This EP has a more psytechno vibe compared to my other KNTXT EPs.’ His sound as his name suggests uses acid elements and percussion ofteninspired by the Japanese taiko, to explore psytrance, techno and rap. Two tracks are collaborations with fellow Brazilian, live artist WAIO, ‘a psytrance producer I’m a big fan of.’
Title track ‘Let’s Go’ ‘represents my psytrance background using a mantra and adding my acid style’, with layers of fast techno percussion and melodic synth phrases for a spiritual and techno trip. ‘Whispers Of The Night’: reverb-heavy backbeat, melodic trancey synth acid-edged via hoover FX, with a soft but clear song; psychedelic lullaby contrasting with speedy techno beats. ‘Technologic’ & WAIO: Their first collaboration, pulsating crescendos of synth organ, choral notes and a dark robotic refrain give a haunting, gothic edge alongside a tooth-tingling acid theme. ‘Haunted House’ feat. WAIO: Unashamed theatrical fun. Ghostly swoops, synth screams, portentous voices ‘play hide & shriek’ over heavy, high energy acid techno. Will slay on fall/winter dancefloors for years to come. ‘Breakdown’: bursting with barely controlled energy, as a slight skip in the frantic beats while vocal riffs & stabs vie with resonant high synth melodies.
