The legendary French electronic music duo, Daft Punk, have announced the release of a special 10th anniversary edition of their iconic album ‘Random Access Memories’. The new edition, set to be released on May 12th, will include a remarkable 35 minutes of previously unreleased music. The album, which won five Grammy awards, will feature nine tracks of unheard demos and outtakes from the original recording sessions.
Originally launched in 2013, ‘Random Access Memories’ became a global sensation with hits like ‘Get Lucky’, ‘Lose Yourself To Dance’, and ‘Doin’ It Right’, and featured collaborations with music greats such as Pharrell, Nile Rodgers, Julian Casablancas, and Giorgio Moroder, among others.
The new edition will be available in CD, streaming, and downloadable formats, as well as a 3xLP vinyl set. In 2019, the album was named the best-selling dance music album on vinyl of the decade.
The announcement of the special edition comes after Thomas Bangalter released the first track from his ballet score ‘Mythologies’. Gabriel Szatan’s feature, published in January 2022, looks back on Daft Punk’s groundbreaking album ‘Homework’ for its 25th anniversary, with insights from DJ Deeon, Neil Landstrumm, and others. Szatan’s new book, ‘After Daft’, published by John Murray Press/Hachette UK, explores the duo’s influential nearly three-decade career and their impact on electronic music.
